Therapy Dogs are best known for bringing affection, comfort and joy to people during all stages of life, in a variety of living situations. This applies whether they are in a hospital for a short stay or an assisted living facility, attending a school, or confined in their own home.
In schools, our Therapy Dogs teach children about overcoming challenges, acceptance, and compassion for others.
Connecting with a dog, petting and snuggling, can bring a smile to those who not only feel lonely, but also those unable to visit their own furry family members.
— are any breed, color, or shape.
— are friendly, patient, confident, gentle, and at ease with strangers.
— provide unconditional acceptance and never fail to put smiles on the faces of children and adults alike.
— enjoy human contact and excessive and inconsistent petting.
All of our Therapy Dog Teams complete an 8 week training course, which benefits both dog, and handler. These classes, which are also open for public enrollment, use positive reinforcement, help the TEAM work through many of the challenges which may be faced while they are “working” together. They offer basic obedience reinforcement, as well as advanced training, and even include field trips.
